
GALLERY HAYASHI + ART BRIDGE is pleased to announce its first-time participation in EXPO CHICAGO 2025, where it will present a solo exhibition of renowned Japanese artist Aiko Tezuka in the EXPOSURE section. Tezuka’s thought-provoking textile-based works, including her series Closing and Opening (A Study of Bravery), will be showcased at the prestigious international art fair, highlighting her unique artistic language that unravels and reinterprets historical narratives.
EXPO CHICAGO Contemporary Art Fair showcases leading contemporary and modern art galleries each April at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall, alongside a diverse and inventive program of talks, on-site installations, and public art initiatives. Inaugurated in 2012, EXPO CHICAGO draws upon the city’s robust history as a vibrant international cultural destination, while highlighting the region’s contemporary arts community. In 2023, EXPO CHICAGO was acquired by Frieze, the world’s leading platform for modern and contemporary art.

About Artist
Aiko Tezuka: Born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1976, AIko Tezuka currently lives and works between Berlin and Tokyo. She completed her Master’s Degree in Painting at Musashino Art University in Tokyo in 2001 under the mentorship of sculptor Toya Shigeo and later earned a PhD in Painting from Kyoto City University of Arts in 2005, studying with painter Usami Keiji. Tezuka’s practice is deeply rooted in textile deconstruction, a technique she has explored since 1997, which allows her to examine cultural memory, history, and identity.
Her career has multiple international residencies and fellowships, including support from the Gotoh Memorial Cultural Foundation in London (2010 – 2011) and the Japanese Government’s Overseas Study Programme for Artists, which led her to settle in Berlin in 2011.
